Echo is the perfect place to enjoy the beautiful St. Simons view and some awesome grub. I thoroughly enjoyed the filet which came with TRUFFLE grits (uh-mazing) and broccolini (special order). Speaking of special orders, I asked for a greyhound as my beverage, which was not on the menu, and Kristopher was very cool about making it happen. Definitely order the chicken dumplings. They were the best dumplings I've ever had in my life. In fact, I could eat some right now. Can't wait to return and try another dish!

I visited Echo at the K&P for breakfast yesterday with one goal...a glass of champagne while sitting at an ocean front table enjoying breakfast. I checked their website, saw that breakfast service began at 7:00 am, previewed their Breakfast Cocktail Menu (mimosas, yes!...if they serve mimosas then they obviously serve champagne) and eagerly planned my visit. Upon arrival at 7:05am, I was seated outside at a beautiful and comfortable ocean front table. When I ordered my much desired glass of champagne, the waitress told me that bar service was not available until 8:00 am. I stated that the hours were not indicated on the breakfast cocktail menu, she apologized and said these were the rules. So, I decided to have breakfast first and then champagne at 8:00. Whatever, I'm flexible. I ordered the spinach, artichoke and tomato quiche. It was about the size of the palm of my hand and perfectly cooked. I'll be the first to admit that I do not have a discerning palette, but I'm pretty sure there were no artichokes or tomatoes in the quiche. It was served, however, with a large spinach salad with artichokes, tomatoes and mushrooms. I'm not a fan of dinner salads for breakfast...fruit would have been a better choice but I guess they were going for a low carb option. About halfway through my meal, the waitress brings over my check. I reminded her that I was planning to order a glass of champagne at 8:00 when bar service began. At this point the landscaper arrived, fired up the loudest gas powered weed eater ever, and began weed eating a few feet from my table. I get it...there's probably no good time to do this...but it diminished my experience. It's now about 7:45 am...I'm just killing time until 8:00. Around 7:55, the waitress comes to refill my coffee, I remind her about the glass of champagne and she now says that bar service begins at 8:30. I'm annoyed, frustrated, etc. I contemplate leaving but I've already invested an hour into this experience and decide to just wait it out. Meanwhile, flies are buzzing around my plate which still has not been picked up. Fast forward to 8:30, waitress comes by to tell me that they don't serve champagne by the glass. She confirms that they sell mimosas, I ask if I can order two mimosas but have all the champagne in one glass and all the OJ in a second glass...she looks puzzled. I should have left but I just wanted to salvage the experience so I ordered a glass of moscato (gross!) and choked it down. In summary, I guess I should have called ahead and explained what I wanted but I feel like my desires were reasonable based on the internet research I did ahead of time. I do think the staff should have been better trained. If I had been told at my 7:05 arrival that bar service began at 8:30, I would have come back the next day (bonus...I would have missed the landscaper, too!).

The atmosphere is great. Renovated about a year ago and much nicer than before. Our waiter was competent but didn't seem fully comfortable, maybe he was newish. Food was decent. I had shrimp and grits. Fried pickle app was ok but it's just pickle spears deep fried- a little too much pickle and not enough batter for me. Pickle chips would be a better balance to me. Dinner for two, one app, one drink each, no dessert for almost $100 after tip. A little pricey to me.

Food at Echo is excellent. For lunch the salad trio is superb! At dinner everything on the menu that I have had has been excellent. I have eaten at Echo about a dozen times during my stays at the hotel. I love it! I had the best Bloody Mary today. The service is excellent.

I have been at the King and Prince for 2 days now and have eaten at Echo both days. I am not sure why they have such a poor overall review. The food has been nothing short of amazing. I had the tuna appetizer that was cooked to perfection served with whipped avocado. My husband and I had salads today. Their version of a Cobb salad and the steak salad. Again both were amazing. The ingredients seem to be extremely fresh. The tomatoes were so ripe and seemed they were just picked from a garden. The food was definitely much better than expected based on the reviews. If you are in the area I highly suggest giving Echo a shot!

Service was slow despite more servers than patrons. Bar was especially slow (nothing fancy, just beer and wine requests). Asked me if I wanted special requests (i.e. Swapping out side items). When I agreed to swap, they were forgotten. Food was ok. Ahi Tuna was not fresh. Filet was cooked medium rather than medium rare. Muffins were the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately did not live up to our expectation of a King & Prince level restaurant.

i was a little disappointed in my visit to Echo. We drove to have a nice birthday celebratory weekend. Our server wasn't very enthusiastic which wasn't ideal for the price we spent. Upon ordering drinks, my $14 margarita arrived warm.... I asked the server to have them re-make it so that it was cold. When she brought it back it was the same drink with ice cubes. Not impressive. I ordered the bison medium, when that arrived there was a pool of blood on my plate I cut it open and saw the inside was barely cooked. Once again, sent it back for the kitchen staff to only re heat it on the grill (causing it to be over cooked and tough) and put it back on the same bloody plate. for the amount of money we spent I was truly disappointed that no manager stopped by to check on the two mistakes made and there was no acknowledgment of the errors. For spending the amount we did, I was so sad to leave my birthday dinner with only eating an appetizer and one bite of an over cooked bison. My fiancé and I have both been in the restaurant industry for numerous years and always made it a point to check on tables while managing and make sure that if any servers had issues we addressed and took care of the issues customers had. I was looking forward to wonderful birthday dinner and left with a large bill and no apology from the server. I hope management sees this and works to correct the mistakes they made. I think it would be a wonderful dining experience if they worked harder to correct customers who haven't had the proper service.

Actually still sitting here while making this review. Not busy at all yet we have asked for a drink menu 3 times, been promised water 3 times and then finally able to order a drink and now going on 20 minutes!! Some of the worst service I have seen in a long while - food may end up being good but nothing is worth this!

Echo, located in the newly renovated King and Prince Hotel is a great addition for Saint Simons! They offer a fun exciting menu with lots of seafood, salads, and world class burgers. The menu includes several appetizers suitable for sharing and also small plates. The atmosphere is hip and energizing. The kitchen and bar are open and very interesting to watch as the food and cocktails are prepared.

Very good food and service is excellent. Food is a little expensive. Overall its really nice. The milkshakes are $8.50 for an 8 oz cup. And it was mostly ice. I really like the atmosphere and the employees

I had dinner tonight with my wife and her colleague. First, I must say our waiter, Robbie, was fabulous! Next, all of our meals were overcooked but my food standards are pretty low so low that I think that McDonald's makes a great burger :-}. My dinner companions did not enjoy their meals. The manager took the meals off the tab. The ambience was very good and the service was very good!

5 star view. Service and food doesn't match. Typical hotel fair blasé and overpriced. First drink had a fly in it, bartender replaced with another drink but wasn't overly sympathetic.

We recently stayed at the King and Prince for a wedding and ate here for the convenience. Food was pretty good - the fios gras burger, artisan cheese plate and arugula berry salad were superb. Breakfast fare was average. As others have mentioned, the view can't be beat but the service was ridiculously slow. We were enjoying the view but with a toddler when we need to leave we can't wait 20 minutes for the check. Prices are on the high side but if you stay at the resort it's worth one visit for the ease.

It is tough to say much positive. There were crayons for kids.... Overpriced for what we got and definitely for the quality. I am not sure about anything but lunch as that is all we had, but the restaurant looked nice and it was close to the water. Unfortunately that wasn't enough to make up for the bad food.

We spent our Valentine's weekend at the K&P and had dinner at Echo. The service was great and the food was amazing! The staff accommodated my wife's peanut allergy with no hesitation. Over all it was a GREAT experience and we will definitely be back!

Unimaginative coastal cuisine prepared mediocre. However, after eating at several other establishments on the island, this was better than most. The atmosphere is overhyped. The view is nice, but most of the patrons are eating burgers and fries or a club sandwich so it feels like a beach bar rather than a fine dining experience. My grouper and my GFs salmon were over cooked and dry. The Mac & Cheese was straight out of a box. Really nothing to compliment about the food other than its better than several of the other overhyped restaurants on the island. SSI is not a culinary destination. I'm going to cook myself dinner tonight in my suite.

I wish I had read reviews before I went here. My group only ate their bc we were staying at the King and prince. FOOD The salad was dry and discolored. Could tell it was left out all day or unwashed. Salmon rice pilaf dish I ordered was bland and dry. It's ok if one plate is bad. But it seemed like the rest of my table had the same thoughts toward their plates. The others ordered pot roast and steak and they were all throughly disappointed. There's obviously a consistency in the quality of their food (or the lack thereof) and the management really needs to reconsider who cooks their food! SERVICE Service was average at best. Overall the food was over priced and after reading other reviews we did not get to experience the best part of eating here - the view - because it was dark. I'd spend my money elsewhere.

we have had breakfast twice had lunch once. we have had good experiences so far. I think the food is above average while the service is friendly but a bit slow. The grouper sandwich is great as is the low country eggs. I do feel that the price is a dollar or two too high. We will go back as the food is very good and we enjoy the atmosphere.

Overall happy with ECHO for breakfast and lunch. (Breakfast ends at 10:30 a.m. so we only made it once.) Gorgeous beachfront view - that goes a long way. We sat in the dining area overlooking the beach as well as on the outdoor patio. Favorites - the lunch doughnuts (which are different from breakfast) and the fries which were DELICIOUS. Also, our waitress Jackie was SUCH a delight. Yummy mimosa, coffee and Irish coffee. Had an Island Oasis to go for walking on the beach - tasty and light. Eggs Coastal - salmon, grit cake and crunchy egg, which is a poached egg that's deep fried. Interesting idea and everything was really well seasoned with a tomato-y sauce on the plate. Nice, reasonable portion (not large). Gf had bed and breakfast with 2 eggs, bacon, toast -- again good portion and done well. Tried the half grapefruit - waitress pointed out that it would be topped with sugar so opted for no sugar, Yummy cinnamon sugar doughnut holes. Lunch -- pimento cheese and fried green tomato melt. It was good. I don't know if I'd order it again. A little too vinegary but OK. Substituted the dirty chips (that's the brand of potato chips) for mac and cheese. Wow - the mac and cheese was HORRIBLE. Had a really runny sauce. Inedible. Gf had the grouper sandwich. The fish was nicely grilled but overpowered by the cheese and the roasted peaches which were also delicious. So glad that gf subbed the fries for the potato chips. For dessert, tried the doughnuts, which taste like like beignets -- yummy. (no cinnamon sugar like at breakfast) Lovely decor.

John E's review does Echo justice. Excellent energy, service and calibre of cuisine. Fresh ingredients, presentation with a modern flare and excellent attention to detail help bring new life into the King and Prince. Kristopher took outstanding care of my date and I. I enjoyed the fork tender pot roast while my girl enjoyed the filet. Both were exceptional (as was the green pea foam that came with our dumplings and heirloom grits). Echo offers something to please the palette as well as the eye - you won't be disappointed.

Only beachfront restaurant & bar on St Simons Island. It is located in the King & Prince Resort & has been newly remodeled. Outdoor seating is beachfront! Happy hour is great! Food is fantastic, especially the flatbreads & burgers/sliders!

Had the breakfast sandwich with egg and sasuage- excellent beach front views but the food did not match, a subway sandwich would have been better, eggs were over cooked, sausage was dry. This may be the most expensive place to get take home grits in the world- $4 for 4oz. Should have left when the hotel adjacent was busy but echo had only 3 people seated.

Disappointed in bar service. Sat for quite sometime patient. Couldn't get eye conduct from the 3 bartenders. Fries soggy but well salted. Bun on burger was very crisp. It's like the entire meal was under heat lamp to long. Everything was a struggle. Out of 2 wines by the glass. Forgot the cheese. Shrimp appetizer was great but drowned in the rest of the poor dining experience. It was 3pm. Should have been that much work to dine with a busy staff there in those numbers. Meal looked great on my plate but nothing added up in our favor.

Fabulous view overlooking the ocean; wonderful cool summer evening breeze. But that's where it ends. She crab soup was the worst I've ever had. All other items at table were so-so. Service was adequate, but very friendly. We started off poorly with this new restaurant in the morning. The web site and local restaurants magazines extolled the brunch menu. But, guess what? The breakfast kitchen closes at 10:30. Hard to serve brunch that way, eh? We miss the Sunday buffet in the old dining room. Renovation is nice, but methinks they need to reconsider the new chef.

Stayed at King & Prince for the weekend and had dinner at Echo. The food was phenomenal, the price was reasonable and the views were stellar. The service was non-existent. I asked for a San Pellegrino and the waitress asked me to show it to her on the wine list. Later asked for a Bushmills neat and she asked what that was. We wanted 20 minutes to get our menu. We had just started our salads when our entrees arrived so they sat on the table getting cold. It took half an hour to get our desserts.

I recently stayed for 3 nights at the hotel. I love the hotel and have for a very long time and really enjoyed the bar, as usual. Echo fell far short however. My wife and I were seated in the far corner of the restaurant, which is pretty small, so the views of the ocean were good. However the garish contemporary theme of the room is totally out of touch with the rest of the hotel. Our waitress was doing an OK job until a small conference showed up (about 20 people) who occupied two large tables in the center of the room. That was the end of getting any attention from anyone. I finally caught the attention of one of the runners and eventually got our waitress back over to the table after literally sitting around forever. The menu is interesting and I watched a lot of different dishes come out. They generally looked well presented and well prepared. We weren't starving so I had the wedge salad and fish tacos. The wedge is a unique take on this dish that included small pieces of pork belly and nuts as garnish, a couple of slices of gouda, and a small amount of a perfectly ripe heirloom tomato on the side. They used ranch instead of the typical blue cheese. I really enjoyed it but thought the substitution of ranch dressing was cutesy. The fish tacos were of high quality ingredients but very bland. The gold standard for fish tacos is Pure in the Atlanta area. The Echo version was almost tasteless and had no seasoning. They could use a little instruction from Pure on how to make a really good one and what to server with it. My wife had the black grouper sandwich. Once again, it was made with quality ingredients but no seasoning - almost tasteless. It was smothered in cheese. We had the triple dessert which was a contemporary take on S'mores (OK), a banana thing that was dry and not good, and a deconstructed lemon icebox pie (a little funky but tasty). Of course, getting any of this or another glass of wine or the check proved to be a major struggle as our waitress literally abandoned us to help with the large tables. When we finally escaped, we complained to the dining room manager, who really couldn't care less. He had a remarkably cavalier attitude. We will never go back to Echo again.

Beautiful room but we were not allowed to sit in it! We arrived on a slow Tues night during the off season and we had a reservation. They planned to sit us at a table sat for 12 with huge bulky chairs but there were only 6 of us and the table could not be shortened. We asked if we could sit at a smaller table so we could talk to each other. They said no. The restaurant was empty! We asked could they please push two tables together and the "manager" Tanner said his boss would kill him if he pushed tables together. I was stunned!! So they put us in the corner of the bar in the lobby. Mind you, we asked our boys to dress nicely for the restaurant and we drove 30 minutes and then we were sat near the noisy bar. Our waitress did not know the specials or notice that we did not have silverware. We ordered white wine and it came luke warm. The food was AWFUL!!!! We ordered pot roast-tough!!, we ordered the crab wrapped grouper-over cooked and disgusting presentation; we ordered the NY strip and it was SO tough I had to stand up to saw through it so my son could have a few bites; we ordered the shrimp and grits and it was over battered and fried and swimming in soupy grits. The entire night was horrible and a total waste of time and $300. Please do not go to this restaurant!!!!
